Terry G Defends Burna Boy Amid Backlash Over Viral Concert Incident

Nigerian music star Terry G has spoken up in defense of Burna Boy as discussions intensify over the viral clip showing the Grammy winner sending out a couple who appeared to be sleeping during his concert performance.

The incident, captured at one of Burna Boy’s recent shows, sparked widespread criticism online, with some fans reportedly vowing to boycott his upcoming concerts. Many argued that the singer’s reaction was unnecessary, while others insisted that sleeping at a live show is disrespectful to the performer.

Terry G has now added his voice to the conversation, questioning why anyone would attend a high-energy event like a concert only to fall asleep. In a video response, he stressed that celebrities are often judged more harshly simply because they are in the public eye.

Drawing a comparison, Terry G noted that in environments like churches, ushers quickly wake up anyone who dozes off, yet the public expects musicians to ignore similar behaviour on stage. He argued that such moments are frequently recorded and used to portray artists negatively.

“Heads dey quick hold public figures accountable,” he said. “If this thing happen for church and person dey sleep, pastors go tell ushers to wake am. But because he’s a musician, you go his show to sleep so camera fit capture am and spoil his performance.”

As conversations around the incident continue, Terry G’s comments have added a new perspective to the debate, highlighting the double standards entertainers often face while performing under intense public scrutiny.
