Mohamed Salah Sparks Fresh Controversy After Being Dropped from Liverpool Squad

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has once again come under intense scrutiny following Arne Slot’s decision to leave the forward out of the first team for three consecutive matches. The tension surrounding the situation escalated further after it was confirmed that Salah would not travel with the squad for their UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan.

In the midst of rising speculation, the Egyptian forward posted a solitary picture of himself in the gym on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. The image shared without a caption featured Salah alone in the frame, fueling conversations about his emotional state and ongoing issues behind the scenes.

Reports suggest that Salah feels he has been “thrown under the bus.” He insists he has given everything to Liverpool over the years and believes he deserves better treatment after a long period of loyalty and consistent performance. He also hinted at broken promises made during the summer and admitted that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has deteriorated, stating bluntly that “there is no relationship anymore.”

Despite the turmoil, Liverpool have chosen not to take formal disciplinary action against Salah. Slot, when addressing the media, explained that he simply informed the club’s all-time Premier League top scorer that he “was not travelling,” keeping the conversation short to avoid further escalation.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker also commented on the situation, describing Salah’s absence as “a consequence of what he said,” suggesting that the squad views the controversy as avoidable.

Liverpool now turn their focus to Brighton in what will be their final Premier League fixture before the Africa Cup of Nations. Whether Salah will return to Anfield after the tournament remains unclear, leaving fans and analysts watching closely as the saga continues to unfold.
