AFCON 2025: Full Breakdown of the Confirmed Prize Money

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed the prize money structure for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, scheduled to take place in December 2025. The announcement follows an Executive Committee (ExCo) decision taken on 18 November 2023, providing clarity on the financial rewards awaiting participating nations.

AFCON 2025 will feature 24 national teams, with a total prize pool of $32 million to be distributed based on performance and progression throughout the tournament.

How the $32 Million Prize Pool Will Be Shared

According to the approved framework, the tournament winners will receive the largest share of the prize money, while all participating teams are guaranteed financial compensation even those eliminated at the group stage.

  • Winners: $7 million

  • Runners-up: $4 million

  • Semi-finalists: $2.5 million each

  • Quarter-finalists: $1.3 million each

  • Round of 16 teams: $800,000 each

This performance-based structure rewards competitive progress and ensures meaningful financial returns at every stage of the tournament.

Group Stage Rewards

CAF has also confirmed prize money for teams that do not advance beyond the group stage:

  • Third-placed teams: $700,000 each

  • Bottom-placed teams: $500,000 each

This guarantees that all participating nations benefit financially from their involvement in the competition.
