Erigga Weighs In on Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez Feud: “Beef Brings Traction, But It Doesn’t Help the Culture”
Nigerian rapper Erigga has broken his silence on the ongoing feud between hip-hop stars Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez, calling the clash one that fuels attention but ultimately harms the growth of Nigeria’s rap culture.
Speaking in a recent interview on Yanga 89.9 FM, which surfaced online on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Erigga emphasized that while rap rivalries can generate buzz, they often fail to add real value to the music scene.
“Beef brings traction, but it doesn’t help the culture,” Erigga stated candidly.
He explained that much of the hype surrounding artist conflicts stems from audiences craving drama rather than having genuine appreciation for hip-hop.
“The room now is somehow, not because they love hip-hop, but because they love seeing two people go at each other,” he said.
According to Erigga, fans are quick to engage in controversies but often overlook the moments when artists make positive contributions to the industry.
The rapper clarified that his comments were neutral, as he holds no personal affiliations with either of the two rappers involved.
“Odumodu is not my guy, Black is not my guy,” he noted, making it clear that his focus was on the impact of the feud rather than on the individuals.
Erigga concluded with a call for deeper understanding of the genre, urging both fans and stakeholders to focus on the elements that truly elevate Nigerian hip-hop.
“To understand this genre, this fight… it runs deeper than lyrics and wax,” he said.
The feud between Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez has dominated online conversations in recent weeks, sparking intense debate among fans over whether such rivalries help spotlight Nigerian rap or undermine its unity and long-term growth.
