Don Jazzy Breaks Silence on Resurfaced London Car Incident

Nigerian music icon Don Jazzy has addressed a resurfaced claim made by industry figure Bankulli regarding an alleged car incident that reportedly took place nearly two decades ago in London.

The controversy began after Bankulli alleged that the Mavin Records boss was involved in an accident inside London’s Blackwall Tunnel, removed the vehicle’s number plate, and abandoned the car to avoid costly towing fees. The claim quickly sparked conversations online, with fans questioning whether the incident could pose any legal trouble for Don Jazzy if he were to revisit the UK.

Responding to the viral chatter, Don Jazzy downplayed the speculation and offered clarity on what actually transpired. He explained that the event happened so long ago that although he may not recall every detail, he distinctly remembers not fleeing the scene as claimed.

According to him, he stayed back and waited for police officers to arrive. The authorities conducted standard checks, including a breathalyser test, which confirmed he was not intoxicated. Don Jazzy added that while the vehicle was impounded, the retrieval fee ended up being higher than the value of the car itself leading him to simply abandon it rather than pay the hefty charge.

Legal experts in the UK have also weighed in, noting that incidents of this nature fall under minor traffic violations, which carry a strict six-month limit for prosecution. Since police were already involved at the time and nearly 20 years have passed, the matter is legally considered closed and cannot be reopened or used against him.
