Barcelona Step Up Rodri Pursuit with Improved €60m Bid Submitted to Manchester City

Barcelona have officially intensified their pursuit of Manchester City star midfielder Rodri, submitting an improved offer worth around €60 million (£51 million) to the Premier League champions.

The Catalan giants have made the 30-year-old Spain international their top priority this summer to reinforce the base of their midfield. Barcelona's renewed push comes shortly after Manchester City turned down an initial approach valued at €45 million.

Rodri Open to La Liga Return

Reports suggest that Rodri is intrigued by the prospect of returning to his home country and wearing the Blaugrana shirt. His tactical discipline, positional intelligence, and elite tempo-setting ability from deep are viewed by manager Hansi Flick as the missing puzzle piece for Barcelona's midfield structure.

However, a potential deal is far from finalized. Manchester City are standing firm on their valuation of the Ballon d'Or contender, valuing Rodri at closer to €80 million. Despite the remaining gap in price, Barcelona's immediate second bid indicates that formal negotiations are advancing rapidly between the two European heavyweights.

Domino Effect: City Eye Enzo Fernández as Potential Replacement

With Barcelona pushing hard for the transfer, Manchester City are already planning for a potential life without their midfield anchor.

If Rodri departs, City have identified Chelsea’s Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández as a prime candidate to take over the role. A move to the Etihad would see Fernández reunite with new Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca though any potential deal would hinge on Chelsea lowering their steep £120 million asking price.

As the transfer deadline approaches, all eyes remain on whether Barcelona can close the valuation gap with Manchester City to pull off one of the summer's biggest marquee signings.
