Pep Guardiola Addresses Manchester City Future Amid Enzo Maresca Speculation

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered fresh clarity on his future at the club following recent speculation sparked by Enzo Maresca’s exit from Chelsea.

Guardiola was questioned about his long-term plans ahead of Manchester City’s fixture against Chelsea, with reports linking his former assistant, Maresca, to a potential future role at the Etihad Stadium. The City boss made it clear that he remains fully committed to his current position and intends to see out his existing contract.

Guardiola Dismisses Exit Rumours

The Spanish manager expressed frustration at persistent rumours surrounding his future, particularly suggestions that Maresca could be lined up as his successor. Guardiola dismissed the claims as unfounded and reiterated that he is happy at Manchester City and focused solely on the team’s objectives.

When asked directly about the speculation, Guardiola was visibly irritated by the constant questioning and made it clear that there has been no change to his plans.

What Did Guardiola Say About His Future at Manchester City?

Guardiola stressed that he remains under contract and sees no reason to address rumours that are not grounded in fact.

“You want to fire me?! No, good. My salary is so high. So I have one more year on my contract. How can I give you an update about an opinion that I don't know about? It's just a rumour. So, I'm sorry, I'm not going to answer that.”

Focused on the Present

While Guardiola has previously acknowledged that he will leave Manchester City “one day,” he has consistently maintained that such a decision is not imminent. For now, the 53-year-old is committed to honoring his contract and continuing his work at the club.

With speculation swirling in the background, Guardiola’s message remains clear: his focus is firmly on Manchester City, and he has no immediate plans to step away.
