Niniola Announces Death of Husband in Emotional Social Media Posts

Nigerian afro-house star Niniola Apata has shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of her husband, Michael Ndika, through a series of emotional posts on social media.

The Grammy-nominated singer revealed the loss in the early hours of Wednesday via her Instagram Story, where she posted a number of messages expressing her grief and heartbreak.

In one post, Niniola wrote, “God took him,” before following it up with another message that read, “My husband died.” She later shared a more emotional tribute, writing, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.” The posts were accompanied by photographs of the singer and her late husband, offering a glimpse into their long-standing relationship.

Before his passing, Ndika was reportedly the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on afro-house music and contemporary African entertainment. His work contributed to the promotion and coverage of African music and culture.

At the time of writing, details surrounding his death have not been made public. Niniola, who has largely kept her private life away from the spotlight throughout her career, has not released any further information regarding the circumstances of his passing.

The news has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry, many of whom have taken to social media to offer condolences and support to the singer during this difficult period.

Niniola rose to prominence after emerging as one of the standout contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013. Since then, she has established herself as one of Nigeria’s leading music exports, earning international recognition through hit records such as Maradona and becoming a prominent figure in the global afro-house scene.

As tributes continue to pour in, fans and well-wishers remain united in sending their thoughts and prayers to Niniola and the family of the late Michael Ndika.
