Joeboy Places ₦5 Million Bet on Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON 2025 Semi-Final vs Morocco

Afrobeats star Joeboy has revealed the hefty amount he staked on the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of their highly anticipated AFCON 2025 semi-final clash against Morocco.

As excitement around Wednesday’s showdown continues to build, the stakes have moved beyond the pitch and into the pockets of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities. Following a similar move by fellow hitmaker Davido, Joeboy reportedly placed a ₦5 million wager backing Nigeria to defeat the host nation.

The “Alcohol” crooner, who is well known for his interest in high-stakes sports betting, shared a glimpse of the bet on social media, confidently backing the Super Eagles to silence the home crowd in Rabat.

A Risk-Taker With a Mixed Betting Record

Joeboy is no stranger to headline-making bets. While he has celebrated notable wins in the past, his betting history also includes public losses. In April 2025, the singer suffered a ₦3 million loss after backing Real Madrid against Arsenal in a UEFA Champions League fixture.

Celebrities Rally Behind the Super Eagles

Joeboy’s wager adds to a growing list of high-profile financial support for the national team:

  • Davido reportedly staked about ₦36 million ($25,000) on Nigeria’s opening AFCON fixtures.

  • Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, pledged a $500,000 bonus for a victory over Morocco, with an additional $50,000 per goal.

All Eyes on Rabat

The confidence from fans and celebrities alike rests on a formidable Nigerian side that remains unbeaten at the tournament. After a convincing 2–0 win over Algeria in the quarter-finals, the Super Eagles now face a Moroccan team backed by a passionate home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

If Nigeria secures the win, Joeboy is expected to cash out an estimated ₦11 million but beyond the money, the victory would mark Nigeria’s first AFCON final appearance since 2023, a moment many fans are eagerly waiting for.
