Davido Reflects on His Early Hustle as ‘5ive Alive’ Tour Hits New Heights
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido took fans on a nostalgic ride on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as he reflected on his early, rebellious days chasing music dreams while celebrating the massive success of his ongoing “5ive Alive” national tour.
Sharing on X (formerly Twitter), Davido posted a heartfelt story alongside footage from his recent sold-out show in Ibadan, a city that holds special significance in his journey. The post highlighted just how far he has come since his first ever performance there.
Back in 2011, a young Davido skipped school to perform at the Lynxxx and Friends Tour in Ibadan. He recalled how friends Asa, Peju, B Red, and Sina drove him out of Babcock University, not knowing the performance would later air on Soundcity. “I had no idea it was going to air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it I got in so much trouble,” he wrote capturing the risks and youthful boldness that shaped his early career.
Fourteen years later, Davido returned to the same city as a global star, delivering a high-energy performance that “destroyed” the stadium. The moment underscored his evolution from an ambitious newcomer to an international headliner commanding massive crowds.
Beyond celebrating his personal growth, Davido used the reflection to encourage fellow artists to invest in Nigeria and uplift local talent. He also extended gratitude to sponsors supporting what has become one of the most impactful tours in the country.
With “5ive Alive” set to continue in Abuja and Lagos, Davido is nowhere near done. He also revealed major international plans, announcing a headline show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on November 20, his birthday promising a grand celebration for fans worldwide.
